Kava

What is Kava? Why do people want Kava? These are questions that the everyday person may ask when they come across Kava. However, we can tell you that kava kava, or most commonly known as Kava has widely become famous in many of the South Pacific Island countries such as Fiji, Vanuatu, Tonga, Samoa.

To answer these questions, Kava dates back to half a century where it has a long history of being used as a herbal remedy or in alternative medicine. Traditionally people used it to drink with tea, or in water. It comes from (Piper methysticum: Latin ‘pepper’ and Latinised Greek ‘intoxicating’), a plant that primarily exists in the Pacific Islands.

It is used to relieve anxiety and help with insomnia. According to a trial taken in 2013, Kava was given to 75 people with anxiety disorders. At the end of the trial, Kava was unveiled to have a significant effect on these symptoms.
